Michiel Janssen

Welcome to my photography website!

My name is Michiel Janssen and I currently live in The Hague (Den Haag) in the Netherlands. For as long as I can remember I have had an interest in nature, in living creatures. My eyes are always looking for movements of animals. Several years ago I bought a Canon DSLR camera (40D) together with an EF 300mm f/4L IS USM lens with 1.4x TC and an EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM ultra-wide zoomlens. Initially I focussed on bird photography, but it soon became clear that 420 mm has its limitations, especially when one likes to walk around instead of sitting still in a hide. And there is so much more to see anyway. Thanks to the minimum focussing distance of 1.5 m I also started to take photo's of reptiles, butterflies, dragonflies and wildflowers (notably orchids). I found wild orchids so incredibly fascinating that the obvious next step was to buy a true macro lens (100mm f/2.8L IS USM) with a Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod, 496RC2 ball head and a remote switch. I hope you'll enjoy my photos. If you wish to contact me, please send an email to my @yahoo.com account (prefix: mhajanssen).
Thanks for watching and feel free to leave a comment!
