Herminium monorchis - Honingorchis - Musk orchid

Herminium monorchis (L.) Brown (1813)

Until 2014 there was only one known small population left in the Netherlands. But in 2014 a new population was discovered by florists during a counting of Liparis loeselii. A few tens of plants were found but this year (2015) the number of flowering plants is well over 200. Prospects are looking good so we may be expecting hundreds of plants in the next few years. Photo taken in Noord-Holland (province) on 4 July, 2015.
